The Power of Combined Treatments and Supplements

The Power of Combined Treatments and Supplements

During the search for key ingredients that would assist our quest for healthy hair, we delved into numerous research papers investigating the effectiveness of common medicinal hair treatments and the significance of supplementing vitamins, minerals, proteins, plant extracts and amino acids.

One noteworthy study we wanted to share with you, focused on both male‐ and female‐androgenetic alopecia (AGA and FAGA, respectively), along with telogen effluvium (TE). AGA, affecting 50% of men by the age of 50 and a similar percentage of women, involves hair follicular miniaturisation, while TE commonly results from physiological stress. Among the main authorised treatments for these conditions are topical minoxidil and oral finasteride. However, these treatments typically yield satisfactory hair growth responses in only 50-60% of patients.

While these response rates are decent, our research uncovered promising findings suggesting that combining Minoxidil and Finasteride treatments with additional supplements can enhance hair growth response rates. One particular study evaluated the efficacy and tolerability of an oral supplement containing collagen, cysteine, methionine, iron, and selenium – all key ingredients in our Manestay formula – alongside finasteride and minoxidil treatments for hair loss.

"Between May 2022 and November 2022, 83 subjects with AGA, FAGA, or chronic TE were evaluated and screened for inclusion in the trial. A dermatologist confirmed the hair loss condition through physical examination and assigned a clinical diagnosis of AGA or chronic TE.

Over the 12-week study period, participants were split into two main groups and all treated with medicinal prescription of Finasteride and Minoxidil however one group were given oral supplement of collagen, cysteine, methionine, iron, and selenium in addition.

By the 6-week mark, subjects taking the oral supplement experienced noticeable improvements in hair growth. By the study's conclusion, the group receiving the oral supplement demonstrated even greater enhancements compared to the control group. Additionally, a higher percentage of participants in the supplement group achieved substantial hair growth enhancement.

The results clearly showed those who received the oral supplement alongside their prescribed treatments demonstrated substantial improvements in hair growth compared to those receiving drug treatments alone."1

An additional finding of the study was the well-tolerated nature of the oral supplement, with the majority of participants reporting good to very good tolerability. This suggests that Manestay can seamlessly integrate into your daily routine without causing adverse effects.

These study results provide compelling evidence for the effectiveness of Manestay as a complement to traditional hair loss treatment, considering that all the supplemented nutrients in the experiment are found in our Manestay formula.
